So I finally decided I have a little time to post about our honeymoon! A couple days after the wedding we boarded a plane and headed to Long Beach, California. This was our first time flying together and it was super fun! On the plane ride from SLC to Long Beach we had this adorable little girl in front of us who took a huge liking to Shay. It didn't bother me, I got to hold his hand and watch him play hide and seek with this little girl and later fruit ninja on her iPhone ;) It was pretty cute.

On the plane ride to Long Beach! |
When we finally landed I couldn't wait to get off the plane. I get very antsy on planes and can't sit still for very long. However, this time I think I was just most anxiousness to feel the damp, ocean smelling, Californian air....I might have a slight obsession with it. Being in California just recently in May, I have been really spoiled this Summer. Stepping off that plane was like Heaven on Earth. There was a slight breeze and the air felt amazing! No 98 degree heat, smog going up your nostrils....just pure, bliss full, breeze haha. It was so nice, I didn't mind the long walk from the airplane to the airport! haha never had that happen before, but it was a new experience and I didn't mind. After we got to the terminal we went to the front of the airport and waited for our shuttle where we met other fellow cruise members, including some other newlyweds from Logan. It was then onto the cruise ship! WOHOO! Shay and I were so excited, especially since it was the first time for both of us. When we finally arrived, we went through lots of lines and finally received our cruise cards and were allowed to head to the ship. When we came out the doors this is what we saw!

Holy Ship! |
The first day on the boat was awesome! We just chilled, maybe took a nap, and then pretty sure we went and stuffed our faces haha. Then headed to bed early to prepare for Catalina Island, which is where we would dock at 730 in the morning. I didn't even care that 730 seemed like the butt-crack of dawn, because once I sw the Island, nothing mattered. It was beautiful and plus I couldn't wait to step foot on land...sweet....beautiful...land haha. Once we were boated over we headed straight to a snorkeling shop and got some snorkel gear. From there we headed to diver's cove, a fish reserve and got our snorkel on. It was my first time and too many to count for Shay. Not going to lie...I was petrified and so scared for what would be in store. It is a lot different to say you are going to do something and then actually going to do it or actually sticking your butt in the water and falling into begin snorkeling in the deep, dark, and scary ocean. However, once I got over my fear and took that leap, I loved it. We were the only people there and had the whole place to ourselves, which gave us plenty of time to explore and lose a flipper or two ;). No big deal. There were fish of every kind and of every color....the seaweed was a little creepy, but I quickly got over it...kind of haha. Luckily I had Shay with me and he never went too far from my side. The cool thing was when you would be floating in the water, with your head out and then you would stick it back in only to find a bunch of fish had congregated under you. At first I couldn't decide if this was amazingly cool or if I was about to become fish food, but for the sake of having fun on my honeymoon I chose the amazingly cool and went with the flow.

After our fun snorkeling adventure we headed to the golf cart "rent-a-center" haha and got ourselves a four seater for three hours, which gave us plenty of time to check out the Island and all its cute little houses and gorgeous views.
|
Can I please move here or retire here or just bum here!?
|
Since driving a golf cart around the Island was such hard work we decided to treat ourselves to some ice cream and take a break before we went to do some shopping and then head back to the boat. When we got back to the boat, we got ourselves already and went to dinner, which was scheduled for us at 6....which was super yummy! After dinner we went back to the room to find this cute little dealio.

Love it! Still kind of can't decide what it is...but my heart is set on a pig |

Was kind of freaked out they had touched my glasses, but got over it quickly when I saw how cute it was |
The next day we headed to Ensenada, Mexico where Shay and I went horseback riding, ate at a not so safe, but super yummy taco place, was sung to by some cute old Mexican men, and stopped a neat art museum. SO...okay I just have to tell you. I speak Spanish...but only some. I understand tons more than I can actually speak, which is what made going to Mexico so awesome. I couldn't wait to practice my Spanish, but apparently even if you speak a little people will still do things you don't want them to haha. For example, the creepy taco place we ate at. The only person who spoke English was the actual owner, who was out scouting for costumers....either that or kidnapping them....I couldn't tell the difference. Either way, before I knew it we were sitting down and ordering tacos, drinks, and eating chips and salsa. As we ate, vendors and musicians would make their way through the restaurant. On one occasion, these two older gentleman, or the "cute old Mexican men" as quoted above, came over to us and one of them started speaking to me in Spanish. I just kept saying "No gracias" hoping he would get the hint and just go away, but then he turned on the flattery....this guy really wanted some money. Let me just tell you....some old people may not seem to know what they are doing, but that was NOT the case this time. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing.... "O Sarah, que bonitos ojos tienes....Sus ojos son muy azules! Que Bonita!" (translation: Sarah what beautiful eyes you have, they are very blue! How beautiful!) I looked at him and was like you have got to be kidding me....as my face went bright rojo (red). He kept saying this over and over until he looked at Shay and said the same thing. Shay with a dumbstruck expression just looked at me for help. I told him what he was saying and Shay shook his head yes in agreement....DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT shake your head in Mexico. They will immediately take this as a yes and will play you a song. So without further hesitation, the other old man, whipped out his guitar and they began to sing a song about beautiful blue eyes....haha after they were finished we thanked them. I knew before they even began playing they would want a tip of some sort. All we had was a dollar and then a ten dollar bill, which were not about to give them ten dollars for a two minute song. So we handed them the dollar and pretty sure our faces are up on some hit wall somewhere in Ensenada because I have never seen two old men be so offended haha. We apologized and watched them walk away to the next restaurant to find their next victims.....so word of advice if you go to Mexico, particularly Ensenada, do not be nice to the old men....shoo them if you have. But please enjoy the following pictures!
